Recall of Cadbury Trebor Bassett Easter products - cross-contamination with hazelnuts

12/02/2007

This not only helps enormously in ensuring that product labelling is accurate, it also enables the identification of individual batches of product that might be affected by an inadvertent allergen contamination.

If you were suddenly faced with a contamination alert, perhaps of product batches that were used as components of other products, could you immediately trace the movement of all affected products with 100% accuracy? Cadbury Trebor Bassett has undertaken a full product recall of some of its own brand chocolate Easter products and Cadbury Dairy Milk Miniatures. The affected products may contain a cross-contamination of hazelnut, but do not have an advisory warning to indicate possible nut presence. This makes them unsafe for individuals who are allergic to nuts.

The manufacturer has placed product recall notices (text reproduced below) in the national press and has been in contact with the Anaphylaxis Campaign and Allergy UK who will be alerting their nut allergic members via a mailshot.

-------------------------------- Text of Cadbury Recall Notice --------------------------------

Please note, these products are perfectly safe for those who are not allergic to nuts.
